RedHawks Win 2011 Home Opener

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks capitalized on errors committed by the St. Paul Saints to win their 2011 home opener by a score of 3-1 at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND. Fargo-Moorhead improved to 2-3 on the season with the victory, while St. Paul fell to 3-2.

The Saints were the first to score as they put up their only run in the second inning. Adam Frost doubled and later scored on a single by Hector Bernal.

The lead was short lived as the RedHawks tied up in the fifth inning. Zimmerman reached on an error and ended up scoring on a fielder's choice. They continued their scoring in the sixth. Another error allowed Jason James to get on base. A single by Carlo Cota advanced him to third. Jim Fasano hit a sacrifice fly that scored James and advanced Cota. Then, Britton hit a double to score Cota.

Those two runs were all Chris Siegfried, who entered the game in the top of the sixth, would need to earn the win as he pitched just over three innings without allowing a run. Tollefson entered the game to get the last out and earn the save.
