Shreveport-Bossier 8, Sioux City 5 (Game 1 - 9 Innings)

Shreveport-Bossier scored two runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth to break a 3-3 tie and win 8-5 over the Sioux City Explorers in game one of a day-night doubleheader. 3B Mike Provencher led the Captains offense going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Shreveport-Bossier starter Danial McHenry collected his first win of the season allowing three earned runs on four hits in five innings of work.

Shreveport-Bossier 8, Sioux City 5 (Game 2 - 9 Innings)

For the second time in one day, Shreveport-Bossier took a three-run win over Sioux City. But this time it was late-inning magic, not a middle-innings run, that sealed the deal for the Captains. Shreveport-Bossier 1B Andres Rodriguez scored on a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh to break a 5-5 tie. And not much later, two more Captains crossed home plate to give Shreveport-Bossier its final margin. Captains 2B Jeff Hulett tallied 3 RBI on two hits from the nine hole to lead all players in that category. Sioux City C Ray Serrano and 3B Wallya Backman each had two hits for the Explorers in the second of two losses to the Captains in the day.

Grand Prairie 6, Lincoln 3

Sometimes one hit is all it takes. AirHogs 2B David Espinosa picked up just one hit on the night, a two-out, bases clearing triple in the second inning that ignited a five-run rally and a lead that held through the night. Three of Espinosa's teammates picked up a pair of hits, one of them being LF David Thomas. Thomas went 2-4 with two RBI, second only to Espinosa's 3 in the Grand Prairie club house. Lincoln RF Maikel Jova matched Espinosa's three plated runs, two coming on a sixth-inning two-run homer.

Witchita 12, Fort Worth 5

The Winguts of Witchita took an early lead, scoring multiple runs in three of the first four innings. Most of those runs came via the bat of Wingnuts 3B Juan Richardson. The 30-year-old native of the Dominican Republic was a home run short of the cycle, going 4-6with three runs and four RBI. The win went to Witchita starting pitcher Ryan Hinson, who worked around nine hits and four walks to give up just two runs in six innings pitched. The win was Hinson's first on the season. Fort Worth DH John Allen reached base four times from the clean-up position, twice on hits, and scored two of his team's five runs.

Winnipeg 6, Sioux Falls 4

Winnipeg LF Justin Bass busted open a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning with a three-run triple, crossing home plate himself on the very next at-bat. Leading the Sioux Falls Pheasants, 6-2, after the half-inning, Winnipeg held on despite giving up two runs in the bottom of the frame. Bass's tie-breaking heroics accounted for his only hit of the night. His teammate Kody Kaiser led the way in the hits column for the Goldeyes with a 3-5 night. Winnipeg starting pitcher Erick Carillo took a no decision after giving up two runs on six hits in six innings off six different Sioux Falls batters.

Fargo-Moorhead 3, St. Paul 1

Trailing by a run for most of the game, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks picked up an unconventional run in the top of the fifth inning in St. Paul on Monday night, scoring a run without the benefit of a hit. And the very next inning, fortune smiled on them again with a second unearned run, followed by an earned run to give them the final, two-run advantage. Neither starting pitcher factored in the decision, as RedHawks reliever Chris Siegfried pitched 3.1 scoreless late innings to pick up the win while Saints relief man gave up two runs (one earned) in the sixth to pick up the loss. Five batters for both the RedHawks and Saints picked up one hit apiece.

El Paso 9, Amarillo 3 (In Progress - Top 8)

The bottom third of the El Paso lineup is holding its own, with four of the Diablos' 9 runs coming from the seven and eight hitters, RF Stephen Douglas and 2B Martin Parra. El Paso starting pitcher Wardell Starling gave up two runs over six innings and is in good shape to pick up the win for the Diablos.
