OKLAHOMA CITY - After beginning the 2013 season with eight games on the road, the Oklahoma City RedHawks will return to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark for their first home game of the season Friday, April 12 at 7:05 p.m. against the Memphis Redbirds.
"We're ready and excited to open the gates to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark to begin another successful RedHawks season," RedHawks President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "There's been a lot of work leading up to this point, and we look forward to providing the people of the Oklahoma City metro with quality, affordable family entertainment."
Pregame festivities are highlighted by a ceremonial first pitch by Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett, marking the start of another baseball season in Bricktown.
RedHawks mascots Cooper and Ruby will receive a grand entrance, courtesy of the Central Oklahoma Corvette Club. Each mascot will be driven on the field to open the season in a classic 1960s Corvette.
Roderick Porter of Del City, who was named the grand prize winner of The Oklahoman/Oklahoma City National Anthem Tryouts, will perform the "Star-Spangled Banner" before the game. Following the National Anthem, pilots from the Tulsa WarBirds will fly a classic fighter jet formerly used by the Royal Canadian Air Force above Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
After the third inning, the RedHawks and INTEGRIS Health will present the season's first "Home Run For Life," featuring 22-year-old Mary Beth Davis. In August, 2010, Davis was paralyzed following a car accident but now uses the unique Ekso bionic suit to help her walk during her therapy sessions at the INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center. Davis will demonstrate the use of the Ekso bionic suit on the field while she is honored.
Friday also marks the first of 12 fireworks nights during the 2013 season, as well as the first Sonic Friends & Family Night, where fans can purchase four tickets, four hats, and four Sonic combo meals for only $29.99.
Friday's game is just the beginning of an eight-game homestand against the Memphis Redbirds and the Round Rock Express through Friday, April 19. Kids will have the chance to run the bases following the conclusion of Sunday's game beginning at 2:05 p.m. The first dollar beer night of the season is on Thursday, April 18 at 7:05 p.m.
Tickets for Friday and the seven other games during opening homestand begin at just $7 and are available through the RedHawks ticket office at (405) 218-1000 or by visiting okcredhawks.com.
