Fargo, ND-----The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Explorers 6-5 here Wednesday in the final game of the three-game series. In winning, the RedHawks took the series two games to one and finished the overall season winning four of six from the Explorers.

Fargo-Moorhead took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but the Explorers came back and took a 3-2 lead in the third inning on a RBI single by Michael Lang and a two-run single by Kris Sanches. The Explorers added another run in sixth inning on a single by Mike Murphy that scored Adrian Martinez who had singled earlier in the inning. That gave the X's a 4-2 lead. However, in the bottom of the sixth Sergio Pedroza connected on a two-run home run that tied the game at 4-4. The RedHawks then took the lead at 6-4 in the seventh inning on a two-out, two-run single by Nic Jackson.

The Explorers came back in the ninth on three straight singles and cut the lead to 6-5 and had base runners at first and second with one out, but could not get the needed hit to either tie the game or take the lead. Brandon Newton led the Explorers 14-hit attack with three hits, extending his hitting streak to 16 while Michael Lang had two hits and two RBI's as his hitting streak has now reached ten games.

With the loss, the Explorers are tied for second place with Kansas City in the Central Division of the American Association, both eight games behind division leading Wichita.

The Wingnut will be at Lewis and Clark Park as they start a four-game series with the Explorers Thursday at 7:05.
