KANSAS CITY, KS - Amarillo Sox starting pitcher Jack Spradlin gave his all on Thursday night, allowing only four hits and no runs with five strikeouts to push the Sox past the Kansas City T-Bones 6-1 at Community America Ballpark.
Spradlin (4-2) had his longest outing of the season and allowed no walks for the second time in a game he started. T-Bones starter Devin Anderson (1-4) got the loss, allowing four runs off nine hits in six innings of work.
The Sox got on the board in the first inning as Jason White singled to lead off, went to third on a Jake Opitz double and scored on a Tim Alberts RBI single for a 1-0 lead.
Amarillo added three runs in the sixth as Opitz led off with a single, took second on an Alberts groundout, went to third on an Alberto Espinosa single and scored on a Van Pope sacrifice fly. Adam Buschini followed with a two-run homerun for a 4-0 lead.
The Sox added two insurance runs in the eighth as Alberts led off with a single and scored on a Pope RBI double. Buschini would reach base on a fielder's choice later in the inning, reach second on a wild pitch and score on a Chuck Lofgren RBI single for a six-run lead.
Spradlin left after the eighth inning which gave way to reliever Wes Littleton. Despite allowing a run on a Brandon Jones RBI single, Littleton finished off the T-Bones for a 6-1 Sox win.
