RedHawks Sweep AirHogs with a 6-3 Victory, Win League-Best 12th Straight Game

Fargo, ND - Buddy Sosnoskie's RBI triple tied the game in the fifth and Jon Gaston hit a two-run single in the seventh to stretch a Fargo-Moorhead lead to 6-3 where it remained until the final, completing a four-game sweep of the AirHogs and winning a 2012 league-best 12th straight game on July 15, 2012 at Newman Outdoor Field.

RedHawks starter Alex Caldera (7-1) picked up the victory after throwing seven innings and giving up three earned runs. Kevin Fuqua struck out three batters in the eighth and Tom Boleska pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his American Association leading 16th save of the season.

Fargo-Moorhead trailed 2-3 in the fifth when Buddy Sosnoskie hit a triple off the left field wall, scoring Zach Penprase and tying the game before Sosnoskie tried to reach home on an overthrow, but was tagged out at the plate by Grand Prairie catcher Zane Chavez.

Carlo Cota began a rally in the seventh with a double and was followed by Penprase who hit a line drive single to right center and gave the RedHawks a 4-3 lead. After Sosnoskie singled and Eric Campbell walked, Gaston hit a line drive up the middle picking up two RBIs and extending the lead to 6-3.

Fargo-Moorhead (33-21) has now won a season-high 12 straight games which is the longest for any team in the American Association while also sweeping three straight series' against Winnipeg, Kansas City and Winnipeg.

Grand Prairie (37-18) had a second inning 1-0 lead after a David Thomas RBI groundout and a 3-2 lead in the fifth after Andres Rodriguez hit a two-run home run.

AirHogs starter John Brownell's record dropped to 7-2 on the season after giving up five runs (four earned) off 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings pitched.

Zach Penprase and Buddy Sosnoskie had three hits apiece for the RedHawks and Marcos Rodriguez had two hits with an RBI.

Brian Myrow led the AirHogs at the plate batting 3-for-4 with a run scored while Andres Rodriguez picked up two hits and 2 RBIs.

Fargo-Moorhead hits the road for a three-game series in Sioux Falls starting on July 16 before heading to Wichita to face the Central Division leading Wingnuts in a four-game series.
