American Association Game Recaps

July 15, 2012 - American Association (AA) News Release

Fargo-Moorhead 6, Grand Prairie 3

In pursuit of their 12th straight victory, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks would not be denied, defeating Grand Prairie 6-3. Fargo-Moorhead entered the bottom of the fifth down 3-2 before CF Buddy Sosnoskie provided this afternoon's clutch RedHawks hit. Sosnoskie tripled home SS Zach Penprase to tie the game, setting Fargo-Moorhead up for a comeback win. Penprase broke the tie with a single in the seventh, then RF Jon Gaston singled home a pair with the bases loaded. The three-run seventh was the decisive blow for Fargo-Moorhead. The RedHawks' sweep of the defending-champion AirHogs brings them within three wins of the league record for consecutive victories. That record was set in 2010 by Pensacola. Fittingly, that run began on the same date as Fargo-Moorhead's streak, July 3. Doug Simunic's RedHawks will take a swipe at the record in their upcoming road series against the Sioux Falls Pheasants.

St. Paul 5, Winnipeg 3 (In Progress, Top 7th)

St. Paul and Winnipeg were delayed in the fifth inning due to rain. In that fifth, the Saints plated four runs to take a 5-3 lead.
