Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, Ill. - After the Kane County Cougars (28-30) shut out the best offense in the American Association Tuesday night, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (33-26) showed why they're at the top Wednesday night. They erased the Cougars' four-run lead for a 9-6 win to even the series at Northwestern Medicine Field.

After Fargo-Moorhead scored one run in the 1st, the Cougars scored two runs in the bottom of the frame on RBI from Gavin LaValley and Josh Rolette. Josh Allen and Kacy Clemens each teamed up for homers in the 3rd inning, along with a Mitch Reeves RBI sacrifice fly to make it 5-1 Cougars.

Then the RedHawks took over with eight unanswered runs in the next four innings. After Kevin Krause homered in the fourth, Dylan Kelly doubled home a run two batters later. Fargo-Moorhead retook the lead in the sixth, highlighted by Nick Novak's two-run single.

Kelly had the biggest knock with a three-run homer in the 7th to make it 9-5 Fargo-Moorhead. Nick Lovullo's RBI single in the 8th was the final run scored by the Cougars in the game.

The RedHawks' offense bailed out Ryan Flores (4-2) who earned the win. Kyle Huckaby (4-2) suffered the loss. Alex DuBord earned his fourth save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

The Cougars can end their three-series losing streak with a win over Fargo-Moorhead on Thursday. It's a Thirsty Thursday at Northwestern Medicine Field with $2 beers, hot dogs and sodas. It's also a bobblehead giveaway night for the first 1,000 fans. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. For tickets call 630-232-8811 or visit kccougars.com/tickets.
