RedHawks Close out Season with 6-5 Win over Kansas City

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks closed out the 2011 season with a 6-5 victory over the Kansas City T-Bones on Tuesday night in front of 3,494 fans at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. The RedHawks finish the season with a 44-56 record, while Kansas City ends the year at 49-51.

Kansas City jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Ray Sadler clubbed a three-run bomb to put the visitors on top. Fargo-Moorhead answered back in the bottom of the first inning with two runs on RBI singles by C.J. Retherford and Nic Jackson.

Kala Ka'aihue clubbed his 22nd home run of the year in the third inning to extend the T-Bones lead to 4-2, but the RedHawks tied it in the bottom of the fourth inning with a RBI singles by Retherford and Jackson again.

Sadler hit his second home run of the night and 22nd of the season in the top of the fifth inning to give Kansas City a 5-4 lead. The solo shot gave Sadler 100 RBIs on the season. Fargo-Moorhead answered right back in the bottom half of the frame when Todd Jennings scored on Zach Penprase's two-out RBI single to tie the score 5-5.

Fargo-Moorhead would take a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth, as Jackson notched his third RBI of the night on a sacrifice fly that scored Jonathan Wyatt. Donnie Smith and Joe Harris would close out the T-Bones in the ninth inning. Harris collected the save, his first as a professional.

RedHawks reliever Adam Tollefson (1-3) earned the win, pitching 3.0 innings of one-hit relief. He struck out one and did not allow a walk. T-Bones reliever Brian Grening (6-4) took the loss after allowing one run in 2.2 innings of work.
