
RedHawks Acquire Montoya from Frontier League

FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have acquired RHP Jhonny Montoya from the Washington (PA) Wild Things of the Frontier League for a player to be named later.
Montoya, 27, made his RedHawks debut in Saturday night's 8-6 loss to the Sioux City Explorers. He pitched 1.1 innings and allowed one run on one hit and a walk. In three games with Washington this season, he was 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He pitched 2.1 innings, allowed two hits and struck out two.
Motoya is a native of Caracas, Venezuela who now makes his home in Miami, FL. He began his professional career in 2010 in the United Baseball League with the Rio Grande Valley and Coastal Bend franchises. He pitched in Washington in 2011 and 2012 before joining the Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association to start the 2013 season. He later returned to Washington and finished the 2013 season with a 3-3 record with a 4.41 ERA and six saves in 25 games.
