
Redbirds Win 10th Straight Meeting with RedHawks, 5-1

Memphis, Tenn. - Nick Stavinoha hit two home runs while P.J. Walters delivered a quality start leading the Memphis Redbirds (44-38) to a 5-1 victory, their 10th straight win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (34-49), before 10,606 Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
The RedHawks defeated Memphis on Opening Night, April 7, before dropping the final three games of the opening weekend series. Memphis swept Oklahoma City June 4 through 8 and the Redbirds have won the first three in the current series.
Astros catcher Humberto Quintero was 1x3 with a throwing error in his second rehabilitation game with Oklahoma City and left the game after six innings. Quintero is now 2-for-6 with the RedHawks.
Memphis starter P.J. Walters (7-4) allowed one earned run and six hits over six and one-thirds innings for the winning decision, his sixth consecutive quality start. RedHawks starter Brad Hennessey (0-1) suffered the loss, charged with three earned runs and five hits in three and one-thirds innings.
Oklahoma City opened the scoring in the first inning. Collin Delome reached on an infield single, moved to third on a Quintero single and scored on a Robinson Cancel groundout for a 1-0 score. Cancel has at least one RBI in 9 of his last 11 games.
Memphis tied the game in the bottom of the first inning when Nick Stavinoha belted a two-out, solo home run for a 1-1 score.
Stavinoha struck again with a leadoff home run in the fourth inning, opening a 2-1 Redbirds lead. Later in the inning Andrew Brown singled, moved to second on a Matt Carpenter groundout and scored on a throwing error by RedHawks catcher Humberto Quintero for a 3-1 Memphis advantage.
The Redbirds added two insurance runs in the seventh inning off reliever Casey Fien. Tyler Greene singled in Bryan Anderson for a 4-1 game before a Pete Kozma sacrifice fly ended the scoring at 5-1.
