Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres began July the same way they ended June, beating the Sacramento River Cats to extend their season high winning streak. The Padres won 7-3 Friday and have now won six games in a row. Wade LeBlanc pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits and one walk. Sacramento never had a runner reach third base while LeBlanc was in the game, and the only runner to reach second during LeBlanc's eight innings came as a result of a Padres throwing error.

The Padres scored three times in the sixth inning when Eric Patterson hit a home run in the ballpark he used to call home. Padres catcher Luis Martinez had his second straight two-hit game after being activated from the disabled list Thursday. Kyle Blanks hit a single in the first inning, becoming the second Tucson Padre with an 18 game hitting streak this season (Jarrett Hoffpauir the other) and is now four games away from matching Tacoma's Mike Carp for the longest hitting streak in the PCL in 2011.

San Diego Padres reliever Luke Gregerson faced six batters in his first injury rehab appearance with Tucson, allowing three runs and recording just one out. Gregerson has been on the Padres disabled list since early June with a strained oblique. The T-Pads are now 40-42, in third place, 10.5 games behind first place Sacramento.
