Redbirds Rally Late, End Slide

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis snapped a five-game slide with a late rally Monday night to top Oklahoma City 4-3 at AutoZone Park.

Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning after a two-run RedHawks eighth inning, Memphis scored three runs on four hits. Mark Shorey started the rally with a pinch hit double and scored on Jon Jay's single to left field. The single extended Jay's hit streak to 11 games. After a Jay stolen base, Tyler Greene singled to third base and Jay scored on Matt Brown's throwing error to tie the game. Daniel Descalso drove in the go-ahead run with a single to center field to score Greene. Pete Parise worked a perfect ninth inning to earn his first save of the year.

Memphis reliever Fernando Salas picked up the win despite allowing two runs in his lone inning of work. Pedro Strop took the loss for Oklahoma City giving up one run, unearned, on two hits. Redbirds starter Lance Lynn allowed one run on one hit with four walks and six strikeouts. RedHawks starter Brandon McCarthy gave up three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts over 7.2 innings.
