New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
MEMPHIS, Tennessee -- Steve Stemle tossed his second career complete game as the Memphis Redbirds defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs, 6-1 on Sunday Night in Memphis.
Stemle (4-9) allowed one run and nine hits and struck out two batters without issuing a walk to get the win. John Gall hit a two-run double in the first inning and an RBI single in the seventh for Memphis. Scott Seabol hit an RBI double in the first frame and a run-scoring single in the eighth for the Redbirds, who swept the three-game series after being swept in a four-game series at Oklahoma.
Jason Alfaro drove in New Orleans' only run with an RBI double in the ninth inning. Bob Scanlon (0-4) surrendered five runs and eight hits over 6 2/3 innings to absorb the loss for the Zephyrs, who dropped their sixth straight contest. The Z's open a three game series at Division leading Nashville on Monday at 7:00 p.m. The Zephyrs trail Nashville by 1 ½ games.
