Condrey Named PCL Pitcher of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland right-handed pitcher Clay Condrey today was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for the seven-day period spanning June 30-July 6, it was announced today.

Condrey, who began a major league rehab assignment with the Beavers during the week, was 1-0 and did not allow a run in his two starts. The right-hander struck out 10 batters and allowed just seven hits without issuing a walk in 12.0 innings pitched in those appearances.

He allowed just two hits while striking out four batters through five innings in his first start on June 30. During his second start on July 5, the Beaumont, Texas, native shut out Edmonton on five hits through seven innings while striking out six en route to a 5-1 Beavers victory.

Condrey, 27, is the second Portland player to be honored in two weeks and the third this season. Last week, Alex Fernandez was named the PCL Batter of the Week. Outfielder Jason Bay won the award for April 21-26.

Omaha's Brandon Berger was named the Batter of the Week on Monday. In seven games, he batted an impressive .419 with four home runs and 21 RBIs for the Royals during the inclusive week.
