Gosling Wins Eighth Game, Tucson Back to .500

Mike Gosling pitched six strong innings Sunday night to lift the Tucson Sidewinders to a 8-3 win in Fresno. Gosling allowed two runs in six innings to improve to 8-7 winning his fifth straight decision.

The win enabled Tucson to claim one of the three games after losing the first two contests in extra innings. The Sidewinders also got back to the .500 mark.

Billy Martin provided Mike Gosling with three quick runs in the top of the first. Following singles by Craig Counsell and Chad Tracy, Martin hammered his sixth home run of the year over the fence in left field.

Tucson plated two more runs in the fifth on back to back run scoring singles from Counsell and Tracy.

Tracy and Martin added run scoring hits in the two-run seventh which gave Tucson a 7-2 lead.

Martin finished with three hits and four RBI. Tracy went 3-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Counsell collected four hits with two runs and one RBI.

Cody Ranson and Lance Niekro connected for solo home runs accounting for the first two Fresno tallies.

The Sidewinders improved to 44-44. Tucson continues its ten game road trip Monday night in Sacramento with the first of a three-game series. Curt Schilling (0-0 4.50) will make his second rehab start with the Sidewinders.
