Rochester Red Wings News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - Rochester Red Wings pitchers Jake Reed and Dietrich Enns will assist with Meals On Wheels deliveries today, Thursday, June 21.

This is in advance of the "Duel of the Dishes" where Rochester will play as the Rochester Plates and the Syracuse Chiefs will play as the Syracuse Salt Potatoes Thursday night at Frontier Field. The players will be leaving the Red Cross Building, located at 50 Prince St., Rochester NY around 11:30 a.m. and be delivering throughout the city.

The players will go out with Meals On Wheels volunteers and help deliver meals that would closely resemble what is in a garbage plate. All the meals prepared for Meals On Wheels are overseen by a registered dietician and contain one third of a senior's daily recommended dietary allowances.

About Meals On Wheels, a program of UR Medicine Home Care

Visiting Nurse Service established the local Meals On Wheels program, the third oldest in the United States, in 1958 and has since served millions of meals. The program ensures that over 1,400 individuals throughout the year receive safety checks during the day and delivers approximately 220,000 meals per year. For many seniors and homebound residents who cannot get to a store or stand in a kitchen for long periods of time, Meals On Wheels is essential for their health and well-being. All meals are overseen by a registered dietician and contain one third of a senior's daily recommended dietary allowances. For more information about donating, call (585) 787-8748.
