MOOSIC, Pa. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Thursday night in the rubber match at PNC Field. With the victory, the RailRiders win this set and have taken a 7-5 lead in the 2018 IronRail Series.

The IronPigs jumped on the board in the top of the first as Collin Cowgill hit a home run over the left-field wall to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Lehigh Valley loaded the bases in the fourth inning, but David Hale worked out of the jam getting Dean Anna to hit into a fielder's choice. Hale had a solid outing for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, throwing 4.2 innings allowing only one run on five hits and striking out seven. The IronPigs threatened again in the top of the fifth, loading the bases once again, but J.P. Feyereisen was able to get Matt McBride to fly out to right field.

The RailRiders responded in the bottom of the fifth when Zack Zehner led off with a double, Wilkin Castillo sacrifice bunted him to third, and L.J. Mazzilli smacked a single to plate Zehner. Mark Payton then singled and Brandon Drury doubled which scored Mazzilli and Payton and gave Scranton/Wilkes-Barre a 3-1 lead.

Feyereisen picked up his third win of the season in his 2.1 innings of work in which he only allowed one hit. Cody Carroll snagged his sixth save of the year and did not allow a base runner in his one-inning outing. The RailRiders did not have one player with a multiple hit game; yet, eight of the nine Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starters had a hit in the game.

The team will travel to Rochester tomorrow for a three-game series and then head to Lehigh Valley for a four-game series. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. LHP Justus Sheffield (1-2, 3.03) heads to the mound for SWB, Rochester counters with LHP Stephen Gonsalves (4-3, 5.10). The RailRiders will be back in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take on Pawtucket on June 29. For tickets and more information, call (570) 969-BALL or slide towww.swbrailriders.com/tickets.
