RED WINGS GAME NOTES - Wednesday, August 13 (5:05 p.m.)

Durham Bulls (63-60) @ Rochester Red Wings (67-56) - Frontier Field, Rochester, NY

G1: RHP Matt Andriese (11-7, 3.63) vs. RHP Mark Hamburger (3-2, 3.52)

G2: LHP C.J. Riefenhauser (2-3, 1.70) vs. RHP Tyler Duffey (8-3, 3.80 @ AA)

TONIGHT'S GAMES: For the second time in three days, the Wings will complete a suspended game and then play a 7-inning contest, after Tuesday night's affair between the Red Wings and Durham Bulls (Rays) was halted after two innings due to rain. The game will resume at 5:05 pm tonight with Durham coming to bat in the top of the 3rd and the game tied, 1-1. Game 2 will begin approximately 30 minutes after the completion of Game 1. The Wings won both games on Monday night against Durham and are now 5-5 in the month of August, 12-8 over their last 20 games overall and currently sit 2.5 GB of both SYR for the North division lead and 1.5 GB of PAW in the Wild Card. Meanwhile, Durham is 4-7 over their last 11 games and just 29-37 since the beginning of June but still hold a comfortable 8.0-game lead over CHA & GWN in the South division.

- WHERE THEY LEFT OFF: When play resumes, Durham will have their leadoff hitter, Nick Franklin, at bat to begin the top of the 3rd inning. The Bulls took a 1-0 lead off Sean Gilmartin on an RBI single from Tim Beckham in the 1st. The Wings tied the game in the 2nd on a fielder's choice RBI ground out off the bat of Deibinson Romero to score Wilkin Ramirez, who singled to leadoff the inning -- extending his hit streak to 9 games.

- TYLER DUFFEY makes his Triple-A debut in Game 2 after being promoted from New Britain (AA) where he was 8-3 with a 3.80 ERA in 18 starts after beginning the season with Ft. Myers (3-0, 2.82 ERA) in 4 starts. More info on page 4.

LET'S PLAY TWO: Although tonight is not technically a doubleheader, the Wings have had success in twinbills this season. In true doubleheaders, the Wings are 4-1-2 this season -- sweeping four, splitting two and being swept in one. In total, when the Wings have played two games in the same day this year they are 12-6.

NORTHERN SUPREMACY: Currently, the 4 best records in the IL reside in the North (SYR, PAW, ROC & BUF). The Wings (67-56) are currently 1.5 games out of a playoff spot; however, if they played in the IL West they would have a 1.5-game lead over COL (66-58) in the division and if they played in the South they would hold a 4.0-game lead over first-place DUR (63-60). It is almost a certainty that the Wild Card will come out of the North for a 4th straight season this year.

- The North has a collective winning % of .525 (388-351) while the West is .500 (248-248) & the South is .464 (229-265).

- The Wings are 36-25 against the West (17-15) and South (19-10) divisions and 31-31 vs. the North

HOME, SWEET HOME: The Wings -- winners of 13 of their last 18 games at Frontier Field -- own the best home record in the IL at 39-20 (.661) and the 3rd-best mark in all of Triple-A baseball (Nashville 42-21 & Sacramento 40-20). The Wings are averaging a run more per game at home (5.0 R/G at HOME; 3.9 R/G on the ROAD) while the pitching staff's ERA is nearly a run better at Frontier Field (2.99 HOME ERA; 3.87 ROAD ERA).The Wings are also hitting almost 30 points better at home (.283 HOME; .254 ROAD) with 12 more home runs in 5 less games at Frontier Field.

- Dating back to 5/27/13, the Wings are 70-35 (.667) over last 105 G at home & 81-50 at home since the beginning of '13.

OLIVEROS ON A ROLL: Wings reliever Lester Oliveros has thrown 11.0 straight scoreless innings over his last 6 games allowing just 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out 19 over that stretch. The 11-inning streak is the 4th longest by a Wings reliever this season. Oliveros has struck out multiple batters in each of his last 9 appearances and in 12 of his 16 games with the Wings. If he had enough innings to qualify, his 13.89 SO/9 IP ratio would be best among IL relievers.

THE RBI GUY: With two more RBI Monday, Wings INF Doug Bernier extended his team-leading and career-high RBI total to 51 on the season -- 8 more than any other Red Wing and 5 more than his previous career-high of 46 set last season between Rochester (41) and Minnesota (5). Bernier has been the best Wings hitter in the clutch, batting .352 (32-for-91) with RISP. Over his first 196 games with ROC, he's hitting .293 (190-649) with 92 RBI. Over previous 301 games (2009-2012) in the IL with SWB and IND, Bernier hit just .216 (193-892) with 74 RBI.

ROMERO RIGHT AT HOME: Wings INF Deibinson Romero has reached base safely in 28 straight home games at Frontier Field dating back to May 31 -- one game shy of the longest home on-base streak in the league this season set by SYR's Steven Souza Jr. and COL's Elliot Johnson (active streak). Over his last 28 games at Frontier Field, Romero is batting .326 (30-92) with a .447 OBP, 10 2B, 3 HR and 13 RBI. This season, 20 of his 31 doubles and 6 of his 8 HR have come at Frontier Field. Over his first 98 career games at Frontier Field, Romero is batting .297 (100-337) w/ 11 HR.

HOT WINGS: INF James Beresford has a hit in 9 of his last 11 starts, batting .353 (18-51) with 6 2B, 7 R, and 3 RBI...OF Daniel Ortiz has a hit in 11 straight starts, batting .381 (16-42) with 5 2B, 2 HR, 9 R and 7 RBI to raise his average from .227 to .258...C Josmil Pinto is hitting .292 (21-72) with 9 2B, 3B, 3 HR and 22 RBI over his last 20 games...OF Wilkin Ramirez has an 8-G hitting streak, batting .371 (13-35) with 3 2B & 7 RBI.
