Tonight's Game
The Bisons and the Tides continue their four-game series with game three tonight at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is a season-high nine games over .500 with a record of 66-57. Buffalo has won 18 of their last 23 games since July 21.
Playoff Race
Buffalo has moved to only 2.5 games back of Pawtucket for the IL Wild Card spot. The Herd remain 3.5 games behind Syracuse for the IL North lead. The Bisons host the PawSox, August 23-26, and travel to Syracuse for a pair of games, August 31-September 1.
vs. the Tides
The Bisons are now 5-1 on the year against the Tides after last night's 7-5 victory. Buffalo has already won the season series against Norfolk with only two games remaining between the two teams. Buffalo's last season series win over Norfolk was in 2011 (6-2).
Sean Nolin
LHP SEAN NOLIN will make his fourth start since rejoining the Herd July 28 after missing 39 games with a groin injury. Since returning, Nolin has only allowed four runs (three earned) in 17 innings, good for a 1.59 ERA. In his last start, the southpaw earned his fourth victory of the year with six innings of three-run baseball August 8 in Durham.
Edwin Encarnacion
INF EDWIN ENCARNACION joined the Bisons roster on an MLB rehab assignment last night and went 1-4 with a grand slam. It was the Bisons first grand slam since OF Matt den Dekker hit one August 14, 2012 . Encarnacion has been on Toronto's DL since July 7 with a strained right quadriceps. The Blue Jays outfielder is tied for 4th in the AL in home runs with 26 in only 88 games.
Kevin Pillar
OF KEVIN PILLAR extended his hit streak to 19 games with a 3-for-4 night on Tuesday. This hit streak now the longest by any play in the International League this year...Pillar has averaged .397 (31-78) with 13 extra-base hits and 18 RBI since the streak began July 25.
Colt Hynes
The Blue Jays have claimed LHP COLT HYNES off waivers from the Dodgers. The southpaw was 1-3 with a 4.08 ERA in 42 relief appearances for Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League. He will report to the Bisons in the coming days.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (63-58) lost the second game of a three-game series last night to the Mariners, 6-3. Former Bison INF Juan Francisco went 1-for-2 in the game with a double. Toronto trails Baltimore by 6.5 games for the AL East lead and the Wild Card by 2.0 games behind Detroit and Seattle.
