Louisville Bats News Release

MOOSIC, Pa. - The Louisville Bats (60-64) were defeated 6-1 by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (59-64) Tuesday night at PNC Field to tie the series at one game apiece.

The Bats got on board first in the third inning after a two-out single by Jason Bourgeois scored Bryan Anderson to put them up 1-0. Unfortunately, it was a short-lived lead.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre took over the game in the bottom of the third after a RBI single by Zoilo Almonte scored Jose Pirela and Kyle Roller's second double of the night plated Robert Refsnyder to make the score 2-1.

A huge sixth inning at the plate for the RailRiders extended their lead even more. Ruben Gotay misjudged Corban Joseph's fly ball causing to him to reach second on the error and allow Zelous Wheeler to score. Rob Segedin then doubled to plate Joseph and Jose Pirela tripled to bring in Francisco Arcia and Segedin to put Scranton/Wilkes-Barre up 6-1.

Brett Marshall (0-9, 8.17) received the loss for the Bats despite striking out seven and only walking three. He pitched five and one-third innings allowing six runs, five earned, on 11 hits.

In his first triple-A start of the season, RailRiders starter right-hander Manny Banuelos (1-0, 1.80) earned the win. He lasted five innings, giving up just one run on two hits, a walk and four strikeouts.

Louisville and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will play game three of the four game series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Left-hander David Holmberg (1-6, 4.74) will get the start for the Bats versus SHP Pat Venditte (2-4, 3.56) for the RailRiders.
