Manchester Monarchs News Release
Manchester, NH - Manchester Monarchs right winger Pavel Rosa (pa-VEL, ROW-sa) was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings (NHL) on Tuesday. Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor made the announcement. The Kings on Tuesday also placed Adam Deadmarsh on injured reserve.
Rosa, 26, joins Derek Armstrong, Steve Kelly and Mike Cammalleri as players who started the 2002-03 season in Manchester before getting the call from the Kings.
The 26-year-old product of Most, Czech Republic will join the Kings in time for tomorrow's game against the Florida Panthers at STAPLES Center.
Rosa had five goals, 10 assists and 15 points in 17 games with the Monarchs this season. He had three goals, five assists and eight points in his last five games, which included three-point performances against the Lowell Lock Monsters on Wednesday, November 20 (1g, 2a) and Sunday, November 24 (2g, 1a). Rosa ranked first on the Monarchs in shots (71), second on the Monarchs in game-winning goals (2) and plus/minus rating (plus-2), and fourth in scoring at the time of his recall.
Rosa twice before has had brief stints with the Monarchs parent club. The second round pick (50th overall) of the Kings in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft made his NHL debut with the Kings during the 1998-99 season. In 29 games with the Kings that year, he produced four goals, 12 assists and 16 points. Rosa, a 6-foot-0, 188-pound winger, also wore the Kings crest three times during the 1999-00 season, totaling no points.
Healey, Smithson Close To Returning To Action: Eric Healey and Jerred Smithson joined the rest of the Monarchs on the team bus as it left on Tuesday for Bridgeport, CT. Healey has missed five straight games because of an injury, and Smithson has missed nine straight for the same reason. Healey has six goals, six assists and 12 points in 12 games with the Monarchs this season. He also shares the team lead with five power play goals. Smithson has no points in four games this season.
The Monarchs meet the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on the Monarchs Radio Network (610 WGIR, 930 WGIN, 1540 WGIP, 1400 WTSL) and on the World Wide Web at monarchshockey.com.
