Pirates Remember Former Players with Photo Series

PORTLAND, ME - In conjunction with their tenth anniversary season, the Portland Pirates announced today the creation of the Labatt Blue Pirates' Commemorative Player Photo series that will be available inside "Pieces of Eight", the Pirates' game day program insert. Sixteen former Pirates will be featured on 81/2" by 11" action color photo cards that will feature the player's biography on the back. The first card features center Norm Batherson and will be available on Saturday, December 14th when the Pirates host the St. John's Maple Leafs.

"We think this will be a great way for our fans to reconnect with some of the great players in Pirates' history," said Brian Petrovek, Pirates' CEO. "It was also a natural fit for corporate partner Labatt Blue which is already sponsoring the Pirates' All-Time Team and Milestone voting."

The Pirates return to action on Wednesday when they visit the Providence Bruins. On Saturday, they return home to host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:05 p.m. It's the 2002 VIP Discount Auto Center Salute to Motorsports with NASCAR Winston Cup driver Ricky Craven presented by Wright Express.

The Civic Center will open at 5:00 p.m. for a Motorsports trade show.
