
Red-Hot Boyes leads Bruins past Lowell

The Providence Bruins won for the second time in as many games on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, defeating the previously unbeaten Lowell Lock Monsters, 6-2. The win improved the team's record to 2-1-0-2 (5 points), keeping them in fourth place in the Atlantic Division. The Black and Gold is one point behind the division-leading Lock Monsters, Manchester and Portland. The Providence power play unit struck again on Friday night, accounting for three goals. The Bruins, who have scored at least one power play goal in each game this season, lead the league in man-advantage efficiency, clicking at a 34.6% success rate (9/26).
Bruin center Brad Boyes tallied a hat trick and an assist, as he continues his torrid start to the season. The 2003-04 AHL Second-Team All-Star has points (4-6-10) in all four games this season, and leads the league in scoring. His second goal of the contest was the game-winning goal.
Left wing Martin Samuelsson scored for the second time in as many nights, his third goal of the year. Left wing Andy Hilbert also scored, notching his third and fourth goals of the season. Defenseman Pat Aufiero had three assists, and has points (1-5-6) in all three games.
Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 34 shots for his second win of the season.
The Bruins hit the road on Saturday night to take on the Albany River Rats at 7:30 p.m. All the action will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550 and online at www.providencebruins.com. The Bruins return home to host the Worcester IceCats on Sunday, October 24 at 4:05 p.m.
