Maine Celtics News Release

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws (26-24) lost a heartbreaker to the Erie BayHawks tonight but will head to the postseason anyway, thanks to an Iowa Energy victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Tickets for the Red Claws first round game will go on sale Monday morning at 8:30 AM and will be available at the Red Claws Team Store located at 413 Congress Street in Portland, by phone at 207-210-6655 or online at www.maineredclaws.com or www.ticketreturn.com.

Maine appeared to be cruising to a playoff spot after leading for the majority of the game, only to see the BayHawks storm back in the fourth quarter to defeat the Red Claws, 108-105. With the loss, both teams ended the season with an identical 26-24 record, with Maine winning the tiebreaker. Following the loss, the Red Claws were forced to wait for the outcome of the Sioux Falls at Iowa Energy game to see if their season would continue beyond tonight.

Maine will enter the playoffs as the 8th seed. The first round matchups will be announced by the league tomorrow, with the three division winners selecting their first round opponent from the 5-8 seeds. The first round schedule will be announced following the announcement of the first round opponents. Each of the three rounds of the NBA Development League Playoffs will be a best-of-three series with the low seed hosting the opening game and the high seed hosting games 2 and 3, if necessary.
