SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, fell at home tonight to the Maine Red Claws, 118-112, in the team's first matchup against an Eastern Conference opponent this season.

The Stars (4-5) were led in scoring by Utah Jazz two-way player Naz Mitrou-Long, who notched his fourth 20-point game of the season with 27 points (22 in the second half) in 37 minutes. Mitrou-Long scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, the most scored by a Stars player in any quarter this season. Willie Reed, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NBA G League Draft, tallied his team-high seventh 20-point game of the season, finishing with 23 points and eight rebounds, while Utah Jazz two-way player Tyler Cavanaugh recorded 15 points and a team-high nine boards in 34 minutes of play. Shonn Miller finished the game with a season-high 14 points off the bench, his first double-digit scoring effort of the season, to go along with seven rebounds (all defensive).

The Red Claws (3-7) were led by the Boston Celtics two-way starting backcourt of P.J. Dozier and Walter Lemon Jr., who combined for 50 points (25 apiece). Dozier tallied a game-high eight assists to go with seven boards, while Lemon Jr. finished with six helpers and two steals. In his first start of the season, Vitto Brown recorded the game's lone double-double with 19 points and a game-high 10 boards.

There were nine lead changes through the first three quarters of play (seven in the first frame). The Stars took a five-point advantage (70-65) with 5:03 remaining in the third quarter, but the Red Claws regained the edge on an 11-0 run (76-70). The Stars cut the lead to four points late in the fourth quarter (100-96), but Maine withstood Salt Lake City's push and ultimately won by six.

Both teams shot at least 40 percent from three-point range with Maine holding the advantage from deep (.439-.400). The Red Claws connected on more three-pointers (18-12), blocked more shots (5-2) and committed fewer turnovers (8-10), while Salt Lake City owned the advantage in rebounds (43-39), assists (20-19) and steals (6-4).

The Stars will next travel to Texas for two road tilts, facing off against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets affiliate) on Friday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. (MT) and the Austin Spurs (San Antonio Spurs affiliate) on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. (MT).
