October 10, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York Red Bulls News Release

17-year-old Caden Clark, in his MLS debut after signing an MLS contract hours before the match, scored the game-winning goal to lead the New York Red Bulls (7-8-2, 23 pts) over Atlanta United (5-9-3, 18 pts), 1-0 on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Clark volleyed in the game-winning goal off a failed corner kick clear just minutes into the second half.

Clark is the fifth youngest player in MLS history to score on his MLS debut. The previous fifth youngest was Ben Mines, who was 17 year, 301 days when he scored against Portland in March of 2018.

Clark became the third-youngest goal scorer in franchise history at 17 years, 143 days, behind Eddie Gaven (16 years, 253 days) and Jozy Altidore (16 years, 314 days).

Yonkers native Ryan Meara, who returned from injury, tallied one save for his second shutout this season and sixth career MLS regular-season clean sheet.

New York snapped their two-match losing streak with their fourth clean sheet of 2020. The Red Bulls have tallied back-to-back 1-0 shutouts against Atlanta this year.

The Red Bulls improved to 3-2-2 on the road and moved into sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 23 points.

New York remained unbeaten against Atlanta in MLS regular-season play, improving to 6-0-2 overall and 3-0-1 in Atlanta.

Interim Head Coach Bradley Carnell improved his coaching mark to 4-4-0 overall and 3-1-0 on the road.

New York is 30-19-11 all-time in the month of October. The Red Bulls have scored 96 goals and allowed 76 in the 10th month of the year.

The Red Bulls travel to Connecticut for their mid-week match against Toronto FC at Rentschler Field. Wednesday's kickoff versus TFC is set for 7:30 p.m. with coverage on MSG and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish.
