Vancouver Whitecaps FC News Release

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC will have a record home opener crowd to kick off the club's 2018 MLS season this coming Sunday, March 4 against Canadian rivals Montreal Impact at BC Place. Limited single match tickets remain available at ticketmaster.ca/whitecapsfc.

"Whitecaps fans have set a new ticket mark for a home opener, passing both our MLS high of 22,592 in 2011 and our all-time club record of 25,711 in 1980," noted Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi. "We're thrilled to see the response from our supporters and fans to begin the season. It's going to be very loud and very energetic at BC Place on Sunday."

Southsiders March to the Match, and $5 beers for supporters

The Vancouver Southsiders will continue to lead their March to the Match, with a new route they announced this week departing at 1:45 p.m PT from Victory Square at Hamilton and West Pender. The march will be led on Sunday by Whitecaps FC legend and special guest Carl Valentine. For all the latest information, follow the Vancouver Southsiders on their Twitter and Facebook pages. Ticket holders in the supporters section (207-248) are encouraged to be in the stands early, with $5 beers available from hawkers in those sections from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. PT.

Olympian recognition

Fans are also encouraged to be in their seats early to start the second half, as the club will recognize a number of locally-based Canadian Olympians who have recently returned from PyeongChang, including Women's Freestyle Ski Halfpipe Gold Medalist Cassie Sharpe, and Women's Hockey Silver Medalist Meghan Agosta.

50/50 draw starting at $56,060

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for what will likely be the club's largest ever 50/50 prize, starting at $56,060 due to a rollover from 2017. New this year is the option to pay with credit or debit card. All funds raised support BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
