
Whitecaps FC Acquire English Premier League Midfielder Jordon Mutch from Crystal Palace

VANCOUVER, BC - After 10 years playing at the top levels of the English football system, Jordon Mutch is set to continue his career with Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Whitecaps FC announced on Friday the club has acquired Mutch on a one-year loan from English Premier League club Crystal Palace FC with an option to purchase. The 26-year-old midfielder is Vancouver's 10th addition of the offseason as the 'Caps continue preparations for Sunday's season opener against Montreal Impact at BC Place.
Mutch will be added to Vancouver's roster pending receipt of his international transfer certificate, Canadian work permit and visa.

"Jordon is a top midfielder who has played at the highest level," said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. "He's played against the Chelseas, Arsenals, and Manchester Uniteds and now he wants to prove himself again in a new environment. He likes to get forward, he's full of energy, and he's in the prime of his career. We're delighted to have him here."

Mutch has spent his entire career in the United Kingdom to date, including spells at Birmingham City FC, Watford FC, Cardiff City FC, Queens Park Rangers FC, and most recently Crystal Palace FC.
In total, the central midfielder recorded 17 goals and added 26 assists in 206 matches in all competitions. He scored 10 goals in the English Football League Championship and seven in the English Premier League, including three against Liverpool FC and one against Chelsea FC.
One of Mutch's most successful spells came at Cardiff City FC, where he helped the Welsh side lift the Championship title and qualify for the Premier League for the first time. He then went on to record seven goals and six assists in 35 Premier League appearances with Cardiff.
Mutch, who spent time in the academies of Derby County FC and Birmingham City FC, began his professional career with Birmingham and became the second youngest player to appear for the club when he made his debut in a League Cup tie at the age of 16. Internationally, the Derby native has represented England at the U-17, U-19, U-20, and U-21 levels.
