
Rebels win over Calgary

Red Deer, AB - Brady Gaudet scored in the seventh round of the shootout lifting the Red Deer Rebels to a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night at Enmax Centrium.
Zane Jones, Cody Sylvester and Jake Virtanen all scored for Calgary who overcame a 1-0 first period deficit but also had third period leads of 2-1 and 3-2 slip away.
Calgary Flames prospect Turner Elson scored twice for Red Deer. His second goal with 5:45 left in the third period forced overtime.
The Hitmen now share first place in the Central Division with Edmonton. Both teams have identical 8-3-1-2 records.
Calgary returns to action tomorrow at Scotiabank Saddledome to the host Kelowna Rockets, with a 4 p.m. puck drop. It's the Hitmen Fight Cancer game presented by Delta West Academy, the ice will be painted pink and players will be wearing pink jerseys in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Prairies/NWT Region (CBCF) as well as the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta (Kids Cancer Centre).
Fans can bid on the game-worn pink jerseys until Tuesday, October 30 at 8 p.m. MT by visiting www.elevateauctions.com/hitmenhockeycancer. Proceeds from the jersey auction will be shared by both the CBCF and Kids Cancer Care. In addition, 50/50 funds and on-site donations from the Hitmen Fight Cancer game will support both causes. Winning bidders will be presented with jerseys following the home game on Friday, November 9.
