Blaine, MN - The Minotauros continued their trend of dominating five on five play and finally stayed out of the penalty box in grabbing their first win of the season. Â Christian Mohs broke the scoring open just 2:13 into the game when he beat Trevor Micucci to give the Tauros a 1-0 lead. Â Jacob Dittel extended the lead at 8:51 with the Tauros on the power play. Â Dean Balsamo put a rebound past Jon Flakne with just under two minutes to play in the first to cut the lead to 2-1. Â James LaDouce ripped a shot from the point 3:37 into the second to push the lead to 3-1 which is where it would sit until late in the game. Â The Tauros controlled play in the second period out-shooting Aston 21-4, bringing the shot total to 33-11 after 40 minutes. Â Andrew Zerban converted on a turnover at 14:30 of the final period but the Rebels could not find a third goal with their net empty. Â The win improved the Tauros record to 1-1-2, with two more games remaining in the NAHL Showcase.
Next up for the Tauros is 1-3-0 Amarillo. Â The Bulls won their opener September 12th over Odessa 6-3. Â Since then they have dropped three games to Lone Star, Coulee Region, and the Minnesota Wilderness while being outscored 8-4. Â The Bulls are also being outshot by an average of 38-24. Â Conversely the Tauros are out-shooting opponents 32-28.6 on average. Â The Tauros and Bulls have never met before.
