Lone Star Brahmas News Release
BLAINE, MN - Less than 24 hours removed from a deflating shootout loss to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, the Brahmas were back on the large sheet of ice at the NAHL Showcase against the Minnesota Wilderness.
The dirty south boys came out firing recording three goals in the first period. Tomas Brejcha broke things open about halfway into the first frame slamming one home to make things 1-0 Brahmas. Less than a minute later, Tony DeVito of the Wilderness drove Cody Wickline into the boards and received a boarding major along with a game misconduct. Wickline was injured on the ice for roughly five minutes.
Retaliating in the best way possible, Peter Kessel cashed in on the long power play with a wicked wrister that sent the water bottle of Minnesota's Dyllan Lubbesmeyer flying into the air advancing the score to 2-0.
Before the period's end, Alex Berardinelli chimed along the scoring train as Joey Fallon picked up his second assist of the afternoon. Full steam ahead as the Brahmas took a lead of three into the locker room.
The second and third periods were largely controlled by the Wilderness after replacing Lubbesmeyer in net with Chase Munroe. Munroe stopped all 14 shots sent his way in the 40 minutes but it wasn't enough for the home-state team to mount a successful comeback.
In his first start with the Brahmas, Corbin Kaczperski was awarded the victory as the dust settled displaying the final of 3-2 Lone Star. Kaczperski made 20 saves.
The trip to Blaine concludes tomorrow as the team takes on the Johnstown Tomahawks with a 12 Noon start. Nick Marek and Walt Ruff will have the action for you on FASTHockey.com. Stay tuned to the Brahmas social media for updates until then.
