Rebels Drop Tough One

Despite a hard fought game, the Rebels loss tonight 3-2 to the Minot Minotauros in their second of four games at the 13th annual NAHL Showcase.

Minot's Christopher Mohs scored on a backdoor pass from teammate Max Mettler at 2:14 into the first period. Six minutes later Jacob Dittel put the Minotauros up 2-0 with a goal assisted by Derek Frentz and Chase Springman. The Rebels cut the deficit in half when Dean Balsamo scored a nice goal at 18:02 of the first period with assists to Givdo Jansons and Tobias Kirsher.

With 3:37 minutes into the second period, Minot's James LaDouce picked up the rebound and beat Rebels goalie Trevor Miccuci.

The Rebels scored their second goal of the night at the 14:30 mark of the third period when Andrew Zerbin made a nice lateral move going from left to right and one-timed it to beat Minot's Jon Flarke. The last three minutes showed the Rebels in the Minotauros zone but couldn't beat Flarke who made some outstanding saves with thirty second left in the final period.

Micucci made 36 saves on the night.

The Rebels next game is tomorrow at 4:30pm CT against the Austin Bruins.
