Grand Rapids, Mich.-Josh Ravin and Jeremy Horst combined on a five-hit shutout as the Dayton Dragons defeated the West Michigan Whitecaps 6-0 on Monday afternoon. The win gave the Dragons a split of the four game set and wins on consecutive days for the first time since May 12-13.

Ravin (RAY-vin), in just his second Midwest League start, earned the win by going five and one-third innings, allowing three hits and no runs with one walk and four strikeouts. He evened his record at 1-1.

Horst earned his third save, working three and two-thirds innings while allowing two hits and no walks with one strikeout.

The Dragons beat one of the league's best pitchers in Alfredo Figaro (6-2). Figaro brought a 1.09 earned run average into the game and had allowed opposing hitters to bat just .166. He had allowed only seven earned runs all season over nine starts, but he gave up personal season highs in hits (9) and runs (4) over seven innings against the Dragons.

Dayton took the lead for good before an out was recorded in the first inning. Justin Reed and Keltavious Jones started the game with back-to-back singles and Brandon Waring singled in Reed to make it 1-0. Logan Parker followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Jones and make it 2-0.

In the Dayton fourth, Daniel Perales' two-out double brought in Michael McKennon from first base to make it 3-0.

Dayton added another run in the seventh when Perales singled, went to second on Zack Cozart's sacrifice, and eventually scored on Justin Reed's ground out to make it 4-0.

The Dragons tacked on two more in the eighth, keyed by a McKennon double and an RBI single by Perales to close out the scoring.

The Dragons collected 11 hits, their highest total since May 8th. They have had 21 hits over the last two games after going 12 straight games without reaching double figures in hits.

Perales (per-AL-us) went 3 for 4 with two runs batted in to lead the attack. Reed and McKennon had two hits apiece.

The Dragons do not play on Tuesday. They return to action Wednesday night at Fort Wayne at 6:00 p.m. (WING 1410 AM). Curtis Partch (2-6, 6.00) will start for Dayton. The next home game is Sunday, June 1st at the special start time of 4:00 p.m.
