Arizona Rattlers News Release

PHOENIX - Rattler offensive specialist Damien Groce has been named "Offensive Player of the Week" by the Arena Football League.

Groce (5-10, 182 pounds), who is in his sixth season in the AFL, had an outstanding performance during the Rattlers 45-38 win against the Utah Blaze on Saturday night. He caught 11 passes for 194 yards and four touchdowns. It marks the first time in his career that he has earned a league weekly award.

"He is really starting to become the player that we expected him to be," Rattler head coach and general manager Gene Nudo said. "The scary thing is that there is room for improvement for this guy as the season goes on."

Groce signed a one-year contract with the Rattlers on February 1, 2006. He emerged as the top playmaker for Columbus last season, catching 116 passes for 1,426 yards and 21 touchdowns.

The offensive threat returns to his old stomping grounds this Friday when the Rattlers travel to Columbus to take on the Destroyers.

The game is set to kick off at 5:00 p.m. MST and can be seen on FSN Arizona and heard on ESPN 860AM. Rattler ticket packages can be purchased by calling 602-514-TDTD.
