River City Rascals News Release

Traverse City, Mich. - The River City Rascals got a dominant pitching performance from Liam Ohlmann and the offense kept the pressure on all night with 10 hits in scoring five runs for a 5-2 win over the first place Traverse City Beach Bums.

The Rascals (40-42) trailed 1-0 after the first when Chase Burch singled in Ryan Still after a walk to start the inning. Ohlmann would shut the Beach Bums (53-29) down the next five innings while the Rascal offense got things going.

Doug Sanders tied the game at 1-1 in the third with a two-out single that scored Matt Serna. The only extra base hit for River City was a homerun from Jeremy Synan that gave the Rascals a 2-1 lead in the fourth that was stretched to 3-1 in the inning after Corey LeVier and Curran Redal singled before Serna dropped down the suicide squeeze that scored LeVier.

Ohlmann (1-3) struck out six-of-eight batters in the middle innings while the offense added another run in the sixth on a Serna single that scored LeVier for a 4-1 lead. It was 5-1 after the top of the second when Sanders drew a walk and scored on a Jason Patton single to right.

Traverse City's Kyle Colligan started the seventh with a homerun, the third hit allowed by Ohlmann to close within 5-2, but Ohlmann struck out the side, pitched into the eighth before Nick Kennedy recored the final four outs for his second save.

The Rascals look for their second longest win streak tomorrow when Tony Marsala (4-6, 3.49) takes the mound against the Beach Bums' Kurt Wonderlich (1-0, 5.82). First pitch is set for 7:05 ET.
