Ogden Raptors News Release

The Ogden Raptors came from eight runs down to beat the Grand Junction Rockies 10-9 in 11 innings Friday night at Lindquist Field.

Trailing 9-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Raptors got one run back on an RBI fielder's choice.

The big inning came in the eighth. Justin Chigbogu and Theo Alexander struck out to start the inning. Mike Ahmed singled up the middle to start the rally. John Cannon followed with a two-run home run, his second of the season. Ivan Vela then hit a pinch-hit single to left and scored on a Billy Bereszniewicz triple down the right-field line. Jimmy Allen and Cody Bellinger hit consecutive singles to plate Bereszniewicz, and Julian Leon walked to load the bases. Justin Chigbogu then tied the game with a bases-clearing triple to center. After seven runs on seven hits, the Raptors tied the game 9-9.

Three scoreless innings led the game into the 11th. In the top of the inning, the Rockies loaded the bases with a single and two walks, but Kevin Padlo grounded to third to end the threat.

In the bottom of the 11th, with one out, Ahmed doubled to left-center. Cannon came through in the clutch again with a walk-off single to left to give the Raptors a 10-9 win.

Adrian River (1-0) earned his first win of the season, pitching two scoreless innings.

The eight-run comeback was the largest of the year. The previous high for largest deficit overcome to win was five runs against Idaho Falls on July 28.

The walk-off win was the third this season, all coming against the Rockies during this eight-game stretch.

The Raptors have also 10 out of their last 12 games, nine by one run. The Raptors and Rockies finish their season series Saturday at Lindquist Field. The Raptors are celebrating Raptor-Con at the ballpark, and fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite comic book or sci-fi character. Passes to the Salt Lake Comic-Con will be given to those with the best costumes. The Raptors will be wearing Superman-inspired uniforms.

Victor Gonzalez will take the mound for Ogden against right-hander Javier Palacios. Game starts at 7:00 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
