Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

IDAHO FALLS, ID -- It was more of the same script for Idaho Falls in their series against Orem. For the seventh time in eight games, the Chukars failed to score more than three runs. This time, the pitching couldn't hold up in a 9-2 loss to the Owlz.

Idaho Falls (34-36, 14-18) is now facing an elimination number of one. Orem scored the first run of the ballgame in the first inning, on an Andrew Daniel groundout. The Owlz (40-29, 16-15) added two more in the third off of Zach Lovvorn, on a ground ball misplayed by Luis Valenzuela. The biggest Orem inning came in the fifth. Lovvorn (2-6) was able to record two outs with just one run on base. The next three Orem batters doubled, which resulted in three more runs.

The Chukars offense continued the struggles against Austin Robichaux. The Orem starter went three scoreless innings. Idaho Falls was able to mount some threats in the middle innings. Valenzuela singled in Brandon Downes in the fourth frame to get the Greybirds on the board. Mike Hill doubled two innings later, that scored Ryan O'Hearn.

Those were the only run producing hits, as Tyler Carpenter slammed the door the final three innings. The Chukars have lost six of the seven games against the Owlz in the series.

The Chukars move to 5.5 games back of the Ogden Raptors (three games back of Grand Junction) with six games left to play. Idaho Falls plays game eight of eight in a row against Orem tomorrow at Melaleuca Field.
