VOYAGERS SPLIT DH

Great Falls and Helena split a makeshift doubleheader Thursday at Centene Stadium with the Voyagers taking the resumed game for August 20 11-4, and the Brewers taking game two 2-0. Great Falls led 4-0 in the third when game one resumed and picked up where they left off. After Helena closed the gap to two, the Voyagers answered with three in the fifth on an error and RBI triples from Dillon Haupt and Jackson Laumann. In the seventh and eighth, the Voyagers got lead-off homers from Patrick Palmeiro, who had three RBIs in the game, and Hunter Jones, who hit two long balls. In game two, the offense disappeared for Great Falls as Brewer starter Zach Hirsch allowed just three Voyager hits in six shutout frames. The southpaw struck out a new career-high 11, while leading Helena to their second shutout of the season. For Great Falls, it was the third time they have been shutout, and second at Centene Stadium.

MASTERFUL MARTINEZ

Since he was transferred to Great Falls from the AZL White Sox on August 1, right-hander Luis Martinez has been excellent for Great Falls, posting a 2-1 record and 1.33 ERA over 20.1 innings in his first four starts for the club. The 19-year old Venezuelan has lasted at least five innings in each of his starts so far, and given up no more than one run each time. His most recent start came eight days ago against Helena, and Martinez blanked the Brewers over five innings. The righty struck out six, tied for the most he has whiffed since joining Great Falls.

PERALTA'S DEBUT

Dominican righty Yelmison Peralta made his Great Falls debut in game two of Thursday's doubleheader, working 4.1 innings and allowing two runs on four hits. The 19-year old struck out three Brewers, but received no support offensively from his teammates, and was saddled with the loss as Helena blanked the Voyagers.
