Raptors 905 announced Tuesday they have acquired Derek Cooke Jr. from the Northern Arizona Suns in exchange for Khadeem Lattin and the returning rights to Yanick Moriera, pending physicals of Cooke Jr. and Lattin. Cooke Jr. has played 20 games with Northern Arizona this season, posting averages of 6.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.6 steals.
Cooke Jr., 6-foot-9, 220 pounds, has played 117 games in the NBA G League with the Northern Arizona Suns and Bakersfield Jam. He owns career averages of 6.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists and was a participant in the 2017 G League dunk contest. The Washington, D.C., native spent last season with Perth of the Australian NBL where he averaged 5.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 30 games. Prior to his professional career, Cooke Jr. spent three seasons at Wyoming, transferring from Cloud County Community College. In 102 games (69 starts) with the Cowboys he posted averages of 5.8 points and 5.2 rebounds.
Cooke Jr. will be in the line-up when Raptors 905 travel to Greensboro for a meeting with the Swarm Thursday, January 17 at 7 p.m.
