January 15, 2019 - NBA G League (G League)
Northern Arizona Suns News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Suns announced today they have completed a trade with the Raptors 905.
The Suns acquired forward Khadeem Lattin and the returning player rights to center Yanick Moreira in exchange for forward Derek Cooke Jr. The trade is subject to physicals of Lattin and Cooke.
Lattin (6-9, 220 pounds) is known for his rebounding and rim-protection. In 24 games (seven starts) with the 905 this season, his first year in the NBA G League, the 23-year-old averaged 4.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 17.7 minutes per game. His 64 offensive rebounds are the 20th most in the league, and he's tied for 20th with 32 total blocks. He has five multi-block games and five multi-steal games this season, including a five-block, four-steal night vs. Windy City on Nov. 21, one of two such games in the league this season (Sioux Falls' Jarnell Stokes).
Lattin played four years collegiately at the University of Oklahoma, where he holds the school record for career blocks (235). He became just the third Big 12 player ever to total 700 points, 600 rebounds, 200 blocks and 100 steals in a career, joining Arthur Johnson (Missouri, 2000-04) and Nick Collison (Kansas, 1999-2003). The Houston, Texas, native's best statistical year came his junior season, in which he averaged 8.4 points on 51.6 percent shooting, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game in 31 contests (all starts).
Moreira (6-11, 220 pounds) is currently playing professionally in Italy in the top-tier LBA. He last played in the NBA G League in 2016-17, where he helped the 905 win the championship. In that regular season, he averaged 8.1 points on 46.9 percent shooting and 6.3 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game in 48 games (seven starts). In the NBA G League Finals clinching game, Moreira achieved a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, tallying a +24 in the plus-minus category.
Moreira is originally from Luanda, Angola. He began his collegiate career at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, before joining Larry Brown at Southern Methodist University for two years. The 27-year-old had his best year in 2014-15, his senior season, as he averaged 11.1 points on 55.0 percent shooting, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. That earned him the AAC Most Improved Player Award and a spot on the All-AAC Second Team.
He has also spent a preseason with the Toronto Raptors in 2016-17, and played for the Raptors' Summer League Team (2016) as well as the LA Clippers' (2015).
Cooke has played 20 games (four starts) for the NAZ Suns this season, averaging 6.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. This was his second season in Prescott Valley, playing with the Suns in 2016-17 after making the transition from his lone year with the Bakersfield Jam in 2015-16.
