March 25, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - On Saturday night, the Rapid City Rush donned their warm-up jerseys sponsored by Riddle's Jewelry for their contest against the Colorado Eagles. It was the final game of the season, and after the contest, the Rush auctioned off the specialty jerseys. The Rush was able to raise over $20,000 to benefit Youth & Family Services as well as Big Brothers/Big Sisters of South Dakota.
"It has been a privilege to help out the local community which has done so much for us since our arrival," said Rush Assistant General Manager Tim Hill. "We have now raised over $70,000 off of the jersey auctions alone, and we plan on continuing our involvement in the community for years to come."
The Rush have sported a number of specialty jerseys throughout the season in order to raise money for local groups and charities. Among those organizations are the Naja Shriners, Rapid City Regional Hospital and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure of South Dakota.
"The support that the Rapid City Rush organization and the players have received from the community has been outstanding and very much appreciated," said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras.
"To have the opportunity to raise money for such great causes as Youth & Family Services and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of South Dakota is an absolute privilege".
Up next, the Rapid City Rush will hold a camp for youth hockey players July 20th - 24th at the Roosevelt Ice Arena.
