
IceRays Kris Tebbs Named Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month

The Central Hockey League announced today that Kris Tebbs of the Corpus Christi IceRays has been has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of March/2009. Tebbs will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed portable DVD player, courtesy of Sher-Wood, to recognize his accomplishment.
Tebbs went 5-2-1 during the month of March playing in all but 32 minutes of his team's 550 minutes in the month. He earned one shutout on March 13th ion a 1-0 victory over Rio Grande Valley (25 saves). For the month, the Calgary, Alberta native had a 2.08 goals against average allowing just 18 goals in nine starts. His save percentage was .930 as he helped propel the Rays into the post-season with numerous "must-win" critical games. Corpus Christi got into the playoffs on the final day of the regular season with a 3-2 shootout win at Bossier-Shreveport. A game that Tebbs made 36 saves in. During the month of March, Tebbs allowed three or fewer goals in eight of his nine appearances and two or fewer in five games.
The 5-10, 170-pound goaltender finished the season with a 24-20-2 record and a .908 save percentage. He also had two shutouts. He also won the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week on January 26th, 2009.
