Carroll Named CHL Goaltender of the Week

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Ken Carroll of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs has been named this week's Oakley/CHL Goaltender of the Week, the Central Hockey League announced yesterday. Carroll wins the award for the second time this season, as he was also named goalie of the week on February 2nd.
Carroll went 2-0-1 in the final week of the regular season with a 1.95 goals-against average, a .941 saves percentage and one shutout. Last Tuesday night, the Oil City, Ontario native made 28 saves and was perfect in the third period as Bossier-Shreveport rallied from three different two-goal deficits to win 5-4 at Mississippi. Then on Friday night against the RiverKings, Carroll turned in maybe his best performance of the season with a 45-save shutout as the 'Bugs won 4-0 against their division rivals. The 45-saves were second-most a Mudbugs goaltender has ever made in a shutout performance. With his third shutout of the season, Carroll extended his own league record to 29 shutouts in his CHL career. Finally, the 8th-year Mudbug made 22 saves and stopped five of seven Corpus Christi shooters in the shootout as Bossier-Shreveport fell 3-2 to the IceRays on Saturday night.
Carroll finished the 2008-09 regular season with a 21-8-3 record, giving him the sixth 20-win season of his pro career. He led all CHL goaltenders with a .929 SVPCT, finished second in the league with a 2.33 GAA and tied for the league-lead with three shutouts on the season.
Carroll and the Mudbugs are back on home ice tonight to take on the Rocky Mountain Rage in Game 2 of their Northern Conference Opening Round series at 7:05 pm at the CenturyTel Center. Bossier-Shreveport trails 0-1 in the series after dropping a close 4-3 decision to Rocky Mountain on Monday night in Broomfield, Colorado.
