RiverKings Take Final Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll

March 25, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

Despite finishing three points behind the Colorado Eagles during the regular season, the Mississippi RiverKings have finished as the top team in the final Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll of the season. Mississippi has gone 18-3-1 since the beginning of February and has been the #1 team in the poll for each of the last three votes. Mississippi finished with the second highest point total in the league trailing the Governors' Cup champion Colorado Eagles by three points. The Eagles finished #2 in the final poll moving up one spot. The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs fell the furthest dropping from the #4 spot to the #6 spot.

The Corpus Christi IceRays were the only team moving into the new poll taking over the #10 spot knocking out the Arizona Sundogs. Odessa, Oklahoma City and Rio Grande Valley join the Eagles as the teams that moved up in the final poll.

In last season's final poll, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs were a convincing #1 and the Laredo Bucks were #2 yet neither team made it to the Ray Miron President's Cup Finals. The eventual champion Arizona Sundogs were #3 in the final poll and their finals opponent, the Colorado Eagles, were #5.
