January 22, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack will look to make it back to back wins against top flight offences when they host the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday, Jan. 23.
Coming off of a thrilling 7-4 victory against the Niagara IceDogs on Thursday night, the Attack are riding high thanks to having scored 16 goals in their last three games, including an 8-0 walloping of the Erie Otters.
Ethan Szypula's 13 goals - which matches his previous career total for goals scored - leads the team goal-scoring race, while a total of six players have hit double digit goal totals on the season.
In Thursday's contest against Niagara, a total of 10 players found the scoresheet while overage forward Josh Sterk added on to his team-leading point total with a pair of helpers. Sterk now sits at 34 points in 41 games on the season, while fellow overager Bryson Cianfrone's 30 points in 38 games is good for 2nd in team scoring.
Owen Sound's win against the 3rd place team in the Eastern Conference on Thursday night helped improve their record to 19-16-6-3, while the Kitchener Rangers will come to the Bayshore with a mark of 30-7-4-0.
The Rangers are coming off of a 5-4 loss to fellow Midwest Division rival London on Tuesday night, but have still managed to win seven of their last 10 games.
Recently named captain Ryan MacInnis leads the Rangers, who sit in 4th in the Western Conference, with 53 points in 34 games while draft eligible forward Adam Mascherin also has 53 points on the year.
Saturday's tilt will mark the 5th meeting of the year between the Attack and Rangers, with all but one of the previous four contests needing overtime to solve things.
The Rangers currently lead the season series, having won three of the meetings between the squads.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office or by calling 519-371-7452.
The Weekend Preview is presented by Joe Tomato's, located next to the Galaxy Cinemas on the Sunset Strip. Fans can enjoy half off wings and appetizers following every Attack home game, just by bringing in a ticket stub.
This season of Attack Hockey is brought to you by Caframo.
