OHL Barrie Colts

Rangers Shutdown Colts 2-0

December 28, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Barrie Colts News Release

Rangers' Isaac Langdon scored the game winning goal in a 2-0 shutout win over the Barrie Colts on Friday night in Kitchener.

Tonight was the first game back from the break for both the Kitchener Rangers and Barrie Colts. It also marked the first game in a Colts uniform for Dalton Duhart, who was acquired earlier in the day from the London Knights, and it was former Ranger, Jack Yorks first game back at the Aud since being traded to the Colts.

The first period was a very heated affair as both teams got chippy with one another. It was Kitchener thinking they opened the scoring, as Alexei Lipanov snapped one home but it was called back for goaltender interference, which kept the game scoreless after the first period.

In the second, it was yet another quiet period. No team could find the back of the net until past the midway mark of the period. On a Kitchener power play, the Rangers opened the scoring. Isaac Langdon got a stick on a point shot that found its way past Kai Edmonds for the 1-0 lead.

In the third period the best chance came off the stick of former Ranger Jack York but his tying goal attempt was robbed keeping the Colts off the board.

Kitchener would add an empty net goal to seal the 2-0 victory.

Barrie is back in action tomorrow night as they host the North Bay Battalion. The Colts dropped the previous two to the Troops before the Christmas break.
