Rangers Receive LHP Chris Rearick on Waiver Claim, Option to Round Rock

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers have received LHP Chris Rearick on a waiver claim from the San Diego Padres and have assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock the club announced Wednesday.

Rearick, 27, made his major league debut with San Diego this season, giving up four runs in 3.0 innings of work over five appearances. He has spent the majority of the season with Triple-A El Paso, posting a 0-3 record with a 5.23 ERA (25 ER/43.0 IP) in 37 appearances. Most recently, the lefty was with Double-A San Antonio in his last outing on August 19. Rearick was designated for assignment on August 21.

Rearick was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 41st round of the 2010 June draft. He was the Rays 2011 Minor League Reliever of the Year. The Georgia native was traded to the Padres before the 2013 season.

The Express wraps up a four-game series with the Salt Lake Bees (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) tonight and opens another four-game set with the Las Vegas 51s (New York Mets) tomorrow night at Dell Diamond. Both games are slated for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
