Salt Lake Bees News Release

Round Rock, TX (Aug. 25) - David Freese belts a grand slam as part of a five-run six inning to help the Salt Lake Bees to an 8-3 win over the Round Rock Express on Tuesday night. Roger Kieschnick got the Bees going in the second with a two-run homer, his 14th of the season, but former Bee Tommy Field led off the fifth for Round Rock with his 14th home run to cut the Salt Lake lead in half. In the sixth, Gary Brown opened the inning by getting hit by a pitch. Taylor Featherston followed with a single and Kyle Kubitza walked to load the bases. Freese, who is on major league injury rehab assignment from the Angels, drilled a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for a grand slam to give Salt Lake a 6-1 lead. Alfredo Marte would close out the scoring in the sixth with a two-out RBI double.

Adam Wilk (6-10) earned the win, as he went five and two-third innings and allowed just three runs on six hits tying his season high in strikeouts with seven. The Bees' bullpen of Kurt Spomer, Wesley Wright and Jeremy McBryde combined to throw three and one-third scoreless innings to close out the game. Freese went 2-for-4 with four runs batted in, while Featherston, also on rehab assignment, went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Marte added two doubles and one RBI, as the Bees snapped a three-game losing streak.
