San Antonio Rampage News Release
PEORIA, ILL - The San Antonio Rampage are showing they're road-ready by winning their second in as many nights beating Peoria 3-1 at the Carver Arena on Saturday.
Defenseman David Schlemko helped jumpstart the Rampage with assists to Jeff Hoggan and Garth Murray staking San Antonio to a 2-0 lead in the first frame. Hoggan notched his 10th goal of the season 7:12 into the first taking the puck from the backboard and beating Peoria goalie Chris Holt for a 1-0 lead. A minute later, Schlemko worked the puck to Murray who scored his 6th of the season. Both goals came on four-on-four play.
With San Antonio leading 2-0, the Rivermen, who entered tied for the West Division lead, cut the deficit in half when a turnover turned into a Chris Conner score, his 12th of the season, with just under a minute remaining in the first period.
No one would score again until a late empty netter as Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman continued his stellar net play saving 31 of 32 shots and recording his ninth win in his last ten starts. Holt gave up two goals on twenty shots.
Center Joel Perrault extended his point streak to three games with his second empty net goal of the season at 19:20 ending Peoria's three game winning streak. Center Wyatt Smith added an assist to extend his point streak to 4 games.
The victory should set up an interesting rematch next Friday when the Rampage return to Peoria as two separate fights ensued after the final horn. No player was penalized.
The Rampage have won 9 of their last 11 since going winless in 17 straight. Entering the weekend as the only AHL team winless on the road, the Rampage have turned that around after beating Houston 5-3 last night and beating the Rivermen 2-1 in Peoria. The Rampage are in the midst of playing six of seven on the road and travel to face Milwaukee on Monday.
The victory moves the Rampage to 11-22-0-1 on the season. Peoria falls to 19-13-1-0.
